German stars urge action on Gaza

More than 350 German actors, musicians, and artists have called on Chancellor Friedrich Merz to act to stop hunger and suffering in Gaza.

More than 350 German actors, musicians, and artists have called on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to act to stop hunger and suffering in Gaza.

In their appeal, they described starving children, weak babies, and sick people without care.

They said many children have been killed. The artists want Germany to stop selling weapons to Israel, push for a ceasefire, and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Famous names like Daniel Brühl, Sandra Hüller, and Fatih Akin signed the letter.

They criticized Germany’s continued arms exports, which have sent 485m euros in weapons to Israel since the genocide in Gaza began.

More recently, faced with the daily pictures of atrocities emerging on social media, the media in Germany has begun publishing and broadcasting limited reports indicating the spread of starvation across Gaza.
